A Content Developer II at Tripadvisor is a developer who has a strong foundation in front end development, is capable in picking up new technologies quickly, and is able to operate independently. This would involve the ability to lead projects with some guidance. They should have a reasonable understanding of programming best practices as it relates to developing within a system that allows the team to create and maintain a large number of email templates quickly and easily.

A Content Developer II creates reliable production templates quickly and with high quality. They mentor more junior Content Developers, are able to complete complex projects with guidance from their tech lead, and communicate proactively with project stakeholders. They demonstrate in depth knowledge of aspects of their team’s systems in addition to their projects, are able to improve that system, and are able to take part in relevant On Call rotations. A CD2 actively seeks opportunities to deepen their expertise in one or more areas, while continuing to grow into a strong generalist.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Content Developer to work in a fast-paced and growing CRM team. Working for Tripadvisor’s CRM team, you will create, update, and maintain highly personalized emails for travelers, vacation rental owners, and attraction suppliers. We are searching for someone with a passion for email development and experience creating templates that serve multiple brands, languages, and points of sale.

As a member of the CRM team, you’ll be working with a team full of driven and talented people. The role of Content Developer will have you working along side project managers, software engineers, localization specialists, and our creative team to bring email designs to life.

The CRM team creates and manages email campaigns that service 38 points of sale with 17 languages across 11 brands. Maintaining consistent functionality across all touches requires an eye for detail, and a drive to work efficiently. As a Content Developer you will be coordinating with localization specialists to ensure that our emails are fully localized and optimized to meet the needs of our multilingual user base.


Through it all, you’ll be expected to be able to give continuous constructive feedback to the rest of the team including other Content Developers, designers, copy writers, and project managers to better development and increase efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with Design and Copy team to confirm assets needed to create and deploy emails
  • Working with localization specialists to translate and test content to display correctly for the 17 languages we support
  • Setting up, QAing and scheduling One Off email sends
  • Coding templates to display consistently across all major email platforms like Gmail and Outlook
  • QAing template functionality with Project Managers and Engineer
  • Managing lead times with the Project Managers and CRM Engineering teams to ensure receipt of all design and data points in a timely fashion
  • Maintaining email templates for B2B and B2C communications
  • Developing new templates and testing email functionality to ensure an optimal user experience across the 11 brands and 40 points of sale we service
  • Coordinating with Project Managers and stakeholders to set and confirm scope of projects
  • Developing new modules to serve the needs of new email template designs
  • Learn new technologies required to complete projects that support business initiatives
  • Help maintain aspects of the codebase in a way that scales to the needs of the team
  • Coordinate with other teams to help iron out development hurdles and propose solutions
  • Suggest and drive projects that will help improve the team's ability to execute on business initiatives

Requirements:

  • At least 2-4 years of front end experience
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Javascript
  • Experience with responsive design
  • Experience with modular design
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • University degree (or equivalent) required
  • Computer Science preferred

Not required but is a bonus:

  • At least 1 year of experience coding emails
  • Familiarity with including personalized/dynamic content in emails
  • Knowledge of the unique styling and display quirks that exist in the major email platforms
  • Experience working with ESPs such as ExactTarget, Mail Chimp, Marketo (preferably for an online travel business or retailer)
  • Familiarity and knowledge of email marketing, including deliverability and rendering best practices
